Gazprom raises transit via Ukraine, uses no Yamal–Europe capacity

MOSCOW, Feb 7 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom is boosting transit across Ukraine anew but has used no capacities of the Yamal–Europe pipeline, the Ukrainian pipeline operator, Germany’s Gascade and auction site GSA Platform said on Monday.

Gazprom's application FOR transit across Ukraine stood at 107.8 million cubic meters for Monday. The Yamal–Europe capacities remained unrequired both on regular and intraday sessions.

Gas transit via Ukraine has fallen by almost two times since the start of the year. Gazprom increased pumping at the end of January and it was close to its record contractual obligations on February 1 at 106.7 million cubic meters. The indicator later decreased and fluctuated in a 80-90 million cubic meters range.

The Yamal–Europe pipeline, along with Nord Stream and Ukraine’s gas transportation system, is one of the key routes for Russian gas delivery to Europe. The 2,000-kilometer pipeline runs through Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany and can pump 33 billion cubic meters of gas a year.

A long-term contract between Gazprom and Poland on transit via the Yamal–Europe pipeline ended in 2020, and Gazprom started booking capacity at auctions.
